In his first mission of hunting vampires, Tim gets lost and meets a lady vampire, Summer (starring Lin Min Chen). He is saved by Uncle Chau (starring Chin Siu Ho) who believes in his ability to recover quickly after being beaten by vampires… One night, the nerdy geek Tim Cheung (starring Babyjohn Choi) sees a hideous vampire in a dark alley. Unbeknownst to other people, there has been a secret government organization called VCD – “Vampire Cleanup Department”. On his first operation, Tim not only lets a powerful century-old vampire get away, he unwittingly awakens and then harbors an innocent female vampire (Lin Min Chen). After discovering that Tim (Babyjohn Choi) is immune to vampire toxin, Chung recruits the geeky youth into the VCD as a trainee vampire hunter, much to the unimpressed disapproval of Chau. However, theirs is a twilight trade run on a shrinking budget, and the team is now down to just department head Uncle Chung (Richard Ng), Taoist priest Ginger (Yuen Cheung Yan), technical support specialist M (Bondy Chiu), weapons expert Kui (Law Mong) and one vampire hunter, Captain Chau (Chin Siu Ho). The secret task unit is headquartered in a garbage collection station and patrols the streets at night disguised as street cleaners. Vampires regularly pop up in Hong Kong, but ordinary citizens never hear about them thanks to the vigilant actions of the Vampire Cleanup Department (VCD). Co-directed by new directors Anthony Yan and Chiu Sin Hang, Vampire Cleanup Department was screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. In his first leading role, Babyjohn Choi ( Shockwave) plays the vampire hunter-in-training alongside a cast that includes veterans Yuen Cheung Yan, Law Mong, Siu Yam Yam and Richard Ng, as well as Bondy Chiu and Malaysian singer Lin Min Chen in her film debut. The bumbling apprentice vampire hunter of yesteryear now takes on the mentor role in Vampire Cleanup Department, which gives a new-school twist to the old-school horror comedy genre.
